Inspirationally challenged...
I'm in need of some inspiration today, so who better to ask than my fellow WOYWWers? As you can see, my work space is currently occupied by my Christmas journal, which I'm slowly putting together. So far I have my base pages and date tags, but now I'm stumped by the dates themselves - what do I use?? I think I want them to pretty much fill the tags so Thickers would be the perfect size but they would make the album way too bulky. I don't own any number stamps and have limited funds so buying some isn't really an option. So I'm throwing it out there in the hope that one of you lovely crafty people has a brilliant idea! :D
If you want to have a snoop around some more crafty desks, head over to Julia's!

Lovely start to your journal. Have you thought of cutting numbers from magazines/kids books etc. or even printing different fonts. Just an idea.

how about printing some on to card from the computer> great start too
Hi Jules,
I use computer generated sentiments a lot as you can personalise them to suit the recipient perfectly. Print out on patterned paper or white cardstock and cut out with nesties. That'll do the trick.

Hi ya
i was gona say same as Susan, computer, lovely looking journal, have great day, happy WOYWW, sue,x(16)
Try printing some on the computer, cut them out, trace round them onto plain paper and colour/stamp onto them. Unless you can print them in reverse in the first place. Shouldn't be bulky if you use paper. (13)
Hiya
lovely tidy desk, the snowflakes on that journal are so pretty

gee whizz look at your comments are we in the technology age or what?
may I give you an art rather than craft suggestion?
three options -
1. get a vegetable (potato - but let the starch dry out of it or it affects your print media) or a rubber - cut out numbers in embossed or debossed (raised or cut out) styleee- stamp your numbers - experiment with paint and ink effects - you will be surprised what you can achieve - wait tillthey are vey dry before you judge your effects.
2. if you want consistent shapes - get a lettraset template and draw your shapes and paint/chalk/dye/cut/mask/colour your numbers
3. Just draw your numbers then cut them, paint them, colour them
i am sometimes struck by the number of people that I see using die cuts All The Time in preference to home made Which is fine and produces a machine made craft standard item - but- I prefer the uniqueness of a totally hand made Art item. I use dye cuts if I am short on time, but never for a special personal gift item that I want to be unique.
look forward to seeing what you choose to do - whatever - it will look fabulous if the cover is anything to go by,

Like the potato printing idea but personally would opt for the computer print out (cos I'm lazy and would cut the numbers back to front)!
Having seen the start of the journal, it's so pretty that I'd be itching to get on with the pages. What about using found items for your numbers - wool, string, tape, packets, foil, cellophane - anything that's not too thick and matches with your theme? If there are people who will feature in your journal, could they handwrite some of your tags? Looking forward to seeing it come together.

It's fiddly-twiddly but how about hand-cutting them? Definitely worth the effort as you can do them is any size/font/paper etc you want. :)
I'd create them in Word, then print in mirror format on the back of your chosen paper and then hand-cut them out... my tip tip is to cut on a glass mat, rather than a rubber cutting mat. Makes it much easier and more accurate. :)
Old style stencil?
Or the torn off doors from the advent calendar? Just thought of this - wish I'd thought of it before I made my number tags!
Sad to say that as I'm not a scrapper I can't be of any help at all! It was great to look at your work however!

Ah love the advent calendar doors idea Kirsty - genius! Or are you looking for consistent design/font for your numbers? I have a couple of sets I'd be happy to lend you. Lemme know if so - am sure that you'll have been verys inspired by now anyway. Your journal by the way, is gorgeous.
Well you have got a busy desk here with lots of nice things to use. Lovely start to the journal. I'd print out numbers in different fonts off the computer and cut with different nestie shapes if you have any. Thanks for sharing your workspace with us. Best wishes, Kym xxx (WOYWW No 42)
Love your space and your journel looks so pretty - you could use bits cut from magazines and the rubbish post we all get ~127
good luck with the project.
have a lovely weekend

Fab space! Hmm, draw them with a nice pen?! Practise on a scrap piece first, hand written text or numbers are just wonderful.

Such a clean and tidy desk! I love the pages you've made - hope you managed to sort out something for the numbers. You could do them by hand!!
